Well, after an enjoyable summer in DC, I’m off to UC Santa Cruz to attend their graduate Science Communication program.
It should be a great experience, though fairly intense. I’ll have classes twice a week, and be doing an internship another couple of days a week.
I’ve been looking forward to my first internship at a daily newspaper, the Salinas Californian. And I’ll figure out later in the year where I’m doing my winter and spring internships.
Of course, I expect my blogging to become somewhat sporadic once classes start next week, but we’ll see how it goes. On the plus side, even if it gets hectic, UCSC’s gorgeous campus and proximity to the beach should be fairly relaxing. Even when I lived in the Bay Area I’ve visited Santa Cruz and UCSC’s campus multiple times, just to enjoy the natural beauty there.
In terms of other tangential information, I should also point out UCSC’s awesome mascot, the banana slug, which I first saw on John Travolta’s sweatshirt in Pulp Fiction. Definitely one of the more unique ones.
Of course, my last school’s (unofficial) mascot was a tree…
