This year, SciCom offers a brand new social media class, and as part of the class we just launched our class blog, titled ‘A Tale of Ten Slugs – Becoming science journalists in an electronic age’. It’ll be at ‘http://ataleoftenslugs.com/’ very shortly, as soon as the domain name registration goes through.
It’s meant to be our stories as we go through this year, and learn to become science journalists. Since there’s ten of us, we have some basic idea of the theme, but it’s already interesting to see what a wide variety of topics the blog posts are about.
We will be posting at least one post every week, and also commenting regularly on it. We’ll also be tweeting regularly for the class, as we learn to be more social-media-savvy science journalists, so those are probably going to see more updates than this blog. (And the tweets will show up in the right-hand column of this blog).
I’ll continue to post here sporadically, for things that are more personal and not related to the class or the program. But given the amount of writing and reading I’m doing for class, there’s not a whole lot of time left 🙂
Anyway, do check out A Tale of Ten Slugs, for an idea of what SciCom is like and our experiences as we try to become science journalists.
