No wonder I’ve been busy…the March issue of Popular Science just came out, and it was a busy one for me, I had 4 articles in there. There was a Megapixels, which I’ve done before, but all the other sections were totally new for me – 2 Headlines stories and 1 How it Works. Was interesting to write those, and exciting to see my byline for those in the magazine 🙂

Networked Sensors Track Firefighters to Get Them Out Alive | Popular Science.

A Headlines story on a new system to track firefighters in burning buildings.

An Implantable Glucose Sensor Could Help Diabetics Live Healthier | Popular Science.

Another Headlines story, about a tiny implantable glucose sensor that provides a constant readout of glucose levels.

Boogie Board: A Battery-Powered Notepad as Convenient as Pen and Paper | Popular Science.

A How it Works, about the ‘Boogie Board’ – I got to try one out at the office while I was writing the article, it felt kind of like using an electronic slate.

Coincidence or Consequence? | Popular Science.

A Megapixels about the Bhopal gas tragedy – it’s been 25 years since it happened, and it was really sad researching this story and finding out how little had been done either to adequately document the birth and genetic defects that resulted from the tragedy (which I’d assumed was well-known), as well as to clean up the chemicals. Apparently, the chemicals are still very much there, without any real plan of how to get rid of them. And it seems like there’s also little if any interest within India to do more research on it. Really tragic.
